Reminder: Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 is the deadline for turning in all money and orders for Fruit Sale #1.

The fruit will be delivered on Wednesday, Nov. 17. Parents may pick up their child’s orders between 12-5pm at the SHS Gym.

The 2nd fruit sale will then begin, with an ordering deadline of Nov. 30 (delivery on Dec. 8).

Due to a death in Mr. Kuntz’s family, tonight’s concert and the trip meeting afterwards have been cancelled. The 2012 overseas trip initial information letter will be sent home Wednesday with the students, along with the fruit brochure. The chamber orchestra will be added to the Nov. 15 concert at Twichell Auditorium.

After an unexpected delay, so that the strings faculty could have an opportunity to evaluate the blind, recorded auditions; the results are now posted on the bulletin boards and doors in the SHS Orchestra Dept. Those that made Chamber Orchestra are also marked on the roster.

The Spring Concert of the Spartanburg High School Chamber Orchestra will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church (393 E. Main St.) at 7:00pm. Admission is Free.

Congratulations to the SHS Orchestras for their Superior performances this morning at the SCMEA State Concert Festival, held at Chapman High School in District 1. The SHS Philharmonic (Helen Tipton, conductor) earned a Superior on stage and a Superior in sight-reading. The SHS Symphony (Jeff Kuntz, conductor) earned a perfect 100 Superior on stage and a Superior in sight-reading. Finally, the SHS Chamber Orchestra (Jeff Kuntz, conductor) also earned a perfect 100 Superior on stage and a Superior in sight-reading. A great day for music at Spartanburg High School, and they were the best dressed ensembles there, too!!!

Congratulations to Julia Huff, Steven Fernandes, and Christopher Durham, who will perform today with their All-State Orchestra, 2:00 p.m. at Furman University.

The Spartanburg HS Symphony Orchestra’s Feb. 1 Concerto Concert has been postponed, due to the school weather delay canceling a necessary dress rehearsal at Twichell Auditorium. An official rescheduled date will be announced within 24 hours. The unofficial target date is Feb. 15 at 7:00pm.

Congratulations to 3 members of the District 7 string program for their successful all-state audition on Saturday, Jan. 9 at USC-Columbia.

Julia Huff and Steven Fernandes, from the Spartanburg HS Symphony, made the Senior Honors All-State Orchestra; and Christopher Durham, a 7th grader at McCracken JH, made the All-State Junior Orchestra. Way to go!

The All-State Concert will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28 at Furman University.
