Respond

Congratulations to our District 7 orchestra students (named in an earlier post), who participated in a great Region Orchestra weekend and were part of a rewarding concert last night.

Tomorrow, we have the privilege of featuring four of our students on live television. A string quartet from Spartanburg HS (Julia, Steven, William, and Jonathan) will perform on Jack Roper’s “Your Carolina Monday” program at 10:00am on WSPA-Channel 7.

Fruit Delivery #1 was successful last Wednesday. Most of the students that sold fruit remembered to pick it up on the published date. FRUIT SALE #2 has begun, and all money and orders must be turned in on Tuesday, December 1 to your school’s orchestra teacher. Information letters and new forms were handed out Friday. The fruit will be delivered to the SHS Gym on Wednesday, Dec. 9, and parents may begin picking it up at 1:00pm. The distribution will be completed at 6:oopm. It’s the same vendor, brochures, and prices as the first sale.

Respond

Monday, October 19, 2009 is the big day!

At 8:00am, the Symphony and Philharmonic are leaving on a field trip to Twichell Auditorium for a dress rehearsal on-site. Philharmonic will rehearse 8:30-9:30am, and Symphony 9:30-11:30am. Have you turned in your field trip form? The buses will return to SHS before 1st Lunch begins at 11:50am. Basses, Cellos, Percussion, and large Wind instruments will be loaded onto a truck provided by DSOC. Violins and Violas will hand-carry.

Monday night, all orchestra members must report to Twichell no later than 6:30pm for roll call and tuning. Being on time and properly dressed is part of the performance grade. Hopefully, the gentlemen that needed to go the tuxedo shop to receive their uniform pants and/or coat have accomplished this task. All students must wear appropriate black dress shoes, and guys must have a black bow-tie.
